Jim Sterk, the athletic director at Washington State, considers his counterpart at Notre Dame, Kevin White, a mentor.

It
was the close relationship between the two men that led to an
announcement Friday that the Cougars football team will play the
Fighting Irish in 2009 at the Alamodome in San Antonio as the first
game of Notre Dame's recently announced plan to play one home game a
season at a neutral site.

The game, scheduled for Halloween,
would be the second meeting between the programs. The Irish defeated
the Cougars 29-26 in overtime in South Bend, Ind., in 2003.
