NEW YORK (AP) — The search for the lost remains of World Trade Center victims
is expanding again, after the unexpected discovery of debris
from the towers in some underground landfill that was paved
over long ago. And hours after city officials said they were widening the
search, word came from the site that several more bone
fragments had already been found.
"Based on the appearance of what could be WTC-related debris in the trench, the majority of the haul road requires further excavation," Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler said in a memo Friday to Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
