Planning on doing a little gaming on Xbox Live today? Forget about it, it's down all day (until midnight PST) for maintenance and some mysterious updates.
Don't bother asking what these secret updates are, they're not telling. Whatever they are, they do not include, so says Major Nelson, a dashboard update.
Color me curious as to what the Live team are doing. It's clear that, by its timing, this is something they wanted to (need to?) get done ahead of the November crunch (Wii, PS3 launch, Gears of War, etc.) but exactly what it's supposed to accomplish won't be known until, I usppose, 12:01am PST. We'll just have to wait and see.

True. As far as I know, they haven't yet revealed what was updated although the big news is that they've released Lumines Live in its wake this morning.
