Youtube and NowPublic
Hi this is Michael from NowPublic,
I thought I’d post a quick note to let you know about something we just made available to all of our users that lets you connect directly with Youtube material.
Now you can associate Youtube videos with your stories through our crowd sourcing tool. After you write something on NowPublic just scroll down the page and click on ‘the web’ in the crowd sourcing tool.
You’ll notice that you can now search the YouTube library for file footage and eye witness reports for your stories (you'll need to be signed in). This helps make your material more interesting and more likely to reach the front page.
You can use this story as a way of testing it. Go ahead, log in, scroll down, find a video and add it to this story. Try it out and let us know what you think.
Best,
Michael.

mtippett, you've convinced me you've done the work - it's authentic. I also think that you've been fair and thorough. I didn't get the sense that you were hiding your biases, or passing off other's work as your own. Or worse -- getting paid by those you cover -- so it's transparent and independent. I also think you deserve praise for being an eyewitness, and for your investigative efforts. Good stuff. (don't you just love this boilerplate comment? ... good on ya' with this YouTube linkage)

Ditto what Ed says, Tippet. P.S.: You're not so bad for a Lib.

Thanks Nuke :)
by 'lib' do you mean liberal or libertarian? I'm never sure what seat I'd get on crossfire (may she rest in peace).

what about the copyright issue? all videos in youtube are youtube-copyrighted. you know, they don't let you publish videos under creative commons licences. i don't like youtube.
the feature is very good! i'd add other videohosting services.
cheers!

Hi Pepa,
The videos still reside on YouTube so they don't mind. We probably drive them lots of traffic. Let us know how you like the tool and what needs to be improved. Thanks,
M.
